In this outtake on Ice-T’s Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap Kanye reveals that he sat down and wrote the lyrics for his last solo release compared to doing it “from the head, straight to the booth” on his prior works. Perhaps admitting that he actually wrote his lyrics will compel other artists, both established and aspiring, to do the same. Remember, this is hip-hop in 2012, so that probably won’t happen. Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap is slated to hit the DVD, digital and Blu-Ray circuit September 18th. The sooner this album hits DVD, the quicker I will have the opportunity to enjoy real hip-hop. The current state of music is uber-depressing. I even almost considered downloading a electronic album the other day.
